Annual Report
How Your Gift is Used
Approximately 80% of what is given to cure and to care for people with leprosy goes to programs to support the work of the Mission. This involves:
- Teaching children, women and men about leprosy to reduce fear and social stigma.
- Diagnosis of people with the early signs of leprosy in the villages in which they live.
- Ordering, transporting, safe storage and controlled administration of the drugs.
- Making sure that the people receive and take the drugs.
- Ensuring full treatment by monitoring and supporting them during and after their cure.
Approximately 20% of the $350 amount goes towards the day-to-day administrative business of the Mission, which includes such items as ensuring that receipts for donations are sent out and managing the gifts you give to make sure they reach the communities of greatest need. We also produce television specials and written material to help raise a greater awareness of the need for increased funds to help those who have just found out they have leprosy.
The Leprosy Mission Canada is a member of the Canadian Council of Christian Charities. Please visit the CCCC website for more information about the standards that TLM Canada adheres to.
